I'm trying to update my 2011 MacBook pro from OS X 10.7.5 to the latest version Sierra.

Oct 18, 2019 Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu , then click Software Update to check for updates. If any updates are available, click the Update Now button to install them. Or click ”More info” to see details about each update and select specific updates to install.
- Jul 29, 2016 ③ If the above doesn't help. Try quitting all applications and, restart in 'Safe-Mode'. Sign in using the password you use to install software. Then Try doing the Update.
- May 24, 2019 When opening TurboTax for Mac after installation, you may see the TurboTax checkmark icon bounce a few times before disappearing from the menu bar. This can be accompanied by the error: TurboTax 20xx can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.
Basically the install won't finish and gets stuck on a page with an apple logo and loading bar (see photo). I've tried all of the recovery mode stuff and restarting the Sierra install. For some reason I can't just go back and reinstall 10.7.5 because Sierra is now installed on to my Hard Drive?
I also had about 30gb of free disk space.
This is really annoying me as I am a music producer and heavily rely on my laptop.
I'm also worried about my data being lost?
